Getting To The Point – Shavers

Men’s Shaving Products for the Best Shave

Basic shaving can be quick and easy, just pick up a razor and drag it across your face until all the those prickly hair are gone. It is still advantageous to hear advice from dermatologists and barbers even if you think you know how to shave since you have been doing it for years.

A good shave requires a little more effort and know-how. The objective of shaving is to get rid of repetitious thrusting of the blade on your face or scraping it with a razor repeatedly until the prickly hair is all gone. It is actually giving a good one pass shave on your face.

The idea here is to stop spending time running the razor back and forth on your face, but to spend time in prepping your skin for the razor. There is a need to soften the protein in the hair and this can be done by washing your face with a facial cleanser. Using soap is harsh because it washes away that softening oil in the hair.

Next is lather it up with a shaving cream or gel and let it stay there for about two to three minutes to further soften the hair and make a one-pass shave possible. It is not practical to take too long to make the lather sit on your face but the longer it stays, it is actually better.

Another shaving product that you will need is a brush, you cannot just rely on your fingers to lather your shaving cream unlike the shaving brush. Pushing the cream into the hair to make it easier to shave can be done with a good brush.

Don’t be fooled with a multiple blade razor. You only need a single blade hair to shave your beard admirably although some professionals prefer double blade razor, nothing more as long as you have prepped you hair properly. Of course you need to make sure that your razor is sharp. Discard it if you see a nick in the blade. You need to change the blade every week or two especially if you shave everyday. Changing blades is another good reason to stick with an inexpensive single blade. Three or five blade razors are usually not changed often.

Another key to having a good shave is keeping the skin hot and moist. Moisturize a towel to also prep you skin and then again during the shave to keep the hairs soft. There are kits available with the tools that you need to prep your skin and hair.

Another tip is to shave with the grain or in the direction your hair is growing. If you do against the grain, you may get a closer shave but the razor ca burn or you can get inborn hair offshoots.
